Standing Hand definition and meaning

Standing hand is a term used in both brick-and-mortar casinos and online casinos. The term is used in blackjack and it refers to the sum of cards that signify that the dealer or player should stop hitting. In other words, if you are following a blackjack playing strategy that says you should stand on a specific number, that means you should stop asking for additional cards. The reason for it is that you are more likely to bust by asking for an additional card and you have more chances to win by standing.

Furthermore, blackjack dealers also have a strategy to follow, and they will have to stand once they have a specific hand. In most casinos, the dealer will stand on a soft 17, which is a blackjack hand that includes an ace counted as 11. Keep in mind that the dealer’s strategy may vary from one casino to another.
