Baccarat definition and meaning

Baccarat is one of the most popular casino table games. There are many well-known variations of the game, such as Punto Banco, Mini Baccarat, Chemin de Fer, European Baccarat, and Baccarat Banque.

There is no limit to how many players can actively participate in the game of baccarat since, in order to play, players have to make a bet on either the player or banker’s hand. The cards are then dealt and the hand that’s closest to 9 wins. A hand’s value is calculated by the sum of the cards.

In baccarat, each card has its face value while an ace is worth 1, and all tens and face cards are worth 0. If a hand’s value exceeds 10, its value is determined by the rightmost digit. For example, a hand comprised of 9 and 5 equals 14, which means the hand’s total value is 4.

There are a few more details regarding baccarat that can vary from one variation to another but, apart from slot games, it is one of the easiest casino games to play, which is why it is so popular.
