Beginner’s Luck definition and meaning

Beginner’s luck is a term used both in casinos and everyday life. It refers to a player who’s new to a game or activity and comes out on top just because they got lucky. Among poker players, beginner’s luck is also known as the winning phase and honeymoon period.

The term usually implies that someone’s lucky win or lucky streak is about to end and that their inexperience will show once the lucky period is over. However, since the term implies that someone is inexperienced, you should be wary when using the phrase, especially around people you are unfamiliar with. Otherwise, a player might get offended if you refer to them as a beginner.
