Deal definition and meaning

Deal is a casino term used in brick-and-mortar casinos that describes the action of dealing cards during a card game, such as blackjack, poker, and baccarat.

If you are playing a table game in a land-based casino, the table you’re playing at will have a designated dealer or croupier since they are the only people who are allowed to deal cards.

Since casinos value transparency and want to show players there is no funny business going on, dealers have to follow a strict set of rules outlined by the casino to be eligible to deal cards. This can include everything from various shuffling techniques like card washing to the way the cards are dealt. What’s more, each game comes with different rules dealers have to follow.
