Outside Bets definition and meaning

Outside bets is a gambling term often heard in both land-based and online casinos. It is used to describe types of bets players can make in roulette.

If you have played roulette before, you might have noticed that the layout of the table appears to be comprised of two parts. All the bets in the inside area of the layout are called inside bets, while those in the outside area are outside bets.

While they offer a lower payout than inside bets, you are more likely to land a winning bet by making outside bets. There are several different types of outside bets, such as the column bet and dozen bet. In addition, outside bets also involve betting on high or low, red or black, and odd or even. If you are placing one of these bets, you are making an outside bet.
