Rake is a term for the fee that land-based casinos charge the players for playing in their establishments. The rake is most often charged during a game of poker since the game is played between the players and there is no possible way for the house to make a profit.

In other situations, a casino will charge players each time they decide to play through the hand and wish to see the flop. Finally, they can charge the players by the minute. Well, 30 to 60 minutes, to be precise.

There are several different terms the players use to refer to the fee casinos charge to poker players, such as the margin, cut, under-juice, juice, vigorish, vig, etc.
