Play’n GO Becomes an Official Member of the Climate Pledge

Play’n GO hits the headlines again. However, this time, it’s not because of a slot promotion but for taking part in a global initiative — the Climate Pledge. The Swedish iGaming brand has announced it would join 400 other companies that have also decided to go green.
Under this agreement, the company vows to commit to a sustainable and environmentally friendly future. All the participants are required to reduce their carbon emissions until they eventually reach zero by 2040. Compared to the Paris Agreement’s 2050 target, this goal is expected to be achieved a decade earlier.

Play’n GO has a more ambitious plan — the company intends to achieve the objectives outlined in The Climate Pledge by 2030, ten years earlier than its competitors. Other notable organisations that joined the Pledge include Amazon, Uber, VISA, IBM, and many others.

The Climate Pledge was founded in 2019 by Amazon and Global Optimism. The campaign argues that global businesses have a responsibility, accountability, and ability to address the climate crisis, thereby transforming society. Signatories of the Climate Pledge, including Play’n GO, agree to:

  • Keep track of greenhouse gas emissions and report them regularly;
  • Adopt decarbonisation strategies consistent with the Paris Agreement through fundamental business changes, such as energy efficiency improvements, renewable energy sources, and materials reductions;
  • Achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2040 with additional, real, permanent, and socially beneficial mitigation measures.

Vanessa Arenram, director of CSR for Play’n GO, has stated that the company’s entire approach is geared towards sustainability, and they are excited about this opportunity to join The Climate Pledge. As part of this ambitious agreement, they will become carbon neutral within the next 20 years, ensuring a brighter tomorrow for future generations. They are excited about this initiative and look forward to bringing the global workforce together to accomplish these goals and join the effort as well.
Play’n GO has decided to go green even before signing the Climate Pledge thanks to its Digital First working culture. This way, the company is already on the way to reduce its emissions from consuming direct energy by 100% before the end of 2024. Five out of eight of their locations are remotely or digitally based, meaning that the brand has accomplished 62% of the goal.
